Melt Crisco in saucepan with milk and set aside to cool.
Mix dry ingredients and set aside.
Transfer the cooled Crisco and milk to a large mixing bowl. Stir in the vanilla extract. Then gradually stir in the dry ingredients. Finally stir in the chopped walnuts.
Set dough aside to settle for 30 - 45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Scoop out each cookie using a size 40 cookie scoop, roll into a ball, and place onto a cookie sheet.
Bake for 13-14 minutes.
Pull the cookies out of the oven and place onto wire cooling rack to cool.
