Candied Sweet Potatoes #

Ingredients #

  • 6 yellow-fleshed sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp. salt

Equipment Needed #

  • Large pot for boiling sweet potatoes
  • 9x13 baking dish
  • Small sauce pan
  • 1 cup measuring cup
  • 1 tsp. measuring sppon

Instructions #

  • Boil whole sweet potatoes until tender (approximately 30 to 45 minutes). Drain and cool.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Peel and slice cooled sweet potatoes lengthwise into 1/2 inch slices and place in a 9x13 baking dish.
  • In a small saucepan combine butter, brown sugar, water, and salt. Cook over medium heat until sauce is bubbly & sugar is dissolved.
  • Pour sauce over sweet potatoes.
  • Bake in preheated over for 1 hour basting the sweet potatoes with the sauce.
