Candied Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

- 6 yellow-fleshed sweet potatoes
 - 1/2 cup butter or margarine
 - 1 cup packed light brown sugar
 - 1/2 cup water
 - 1 tsp. salt
 
Equipment Needed

- Large pot for boiling sweet potatoes
 - 9x13 baking dish
 - Small sauce pan
 - 1 cup measuring cup
 - 1 tsp. measuring sppon
 
Instructions

- Boil whole sweet potatoes until tender (approximately 30 to 45 minutes). Drain and cool.
 - Preheat oven to 350°F.
 - Peel and slice cooled sweet potatoes lengthwise into 1/2 inch slices and place in a 9x13 baking dish.
 - In a small saucepan combine butter, brown sugar, water, and salt. Cook over medium heat until sauce is bubbly & sugar is dissolved.
 - Pour sauce over sweet potatoes.
 - Bake in preheated over for 1 hour basting the sweet potatoes with the sauce.
